Did you know that Kawasaki introduced the first eight-hour workday in Japan? Before making history with its legendary sportbikes and award-winning off-road powerhouses, Kawasaki started in the shipping industry in the late 1890s. Today, it's one of Japan's most prominent motorcycle manufacturers and a staple among American riders who know the many rewards of finding used Kawasaki motorcycles for sale.

Kawasaki's reputation is rooted in its exceptional engines that give every bike a definitive feel and an engaging experience in the saddle. We know this firsthand at SF Moto because, like you, we're passionate about the Kawasaki lineup and everything it offers. Legendary street bikes like the Ninja, Concours, and Vulcan offer distinct appeal, while dual sports like the KLR and KLX answer the need for on and off-road adventures. This diversity alone makes shopping the Kawasaki lineup exciting.

SF Moto is proud to add to that excitement. As a team of riders, we welcome you into the motorcycle community with open arms, whether you're just climbing into the saddle or have logged thousands of miles and have plenty of stories and memories to share. Our unique approach means every customer, regardless of skill level, receives the same high-caliber experience, putting you at ease and giving you the freedom to thoroughly enjoy the buying process.

The Kawasaki Impact

Kawasaki got its start as a Tokyo shipyard in 1878. By the late 1890s, founder Shozo Kawasaki was approaching his 60s and needed a successor to take the reins of his company. Without a son, he chose Kojiro Matsukata to become the company's first president. During his 32 years as the head of the company, Matsukata aggressively expanded Kawasaki into trains, generators, aircraft, and cars. He also introduced Japanese workers to the eight-hour workday.

In 1952, Kawasaki introduced its first motorcycle engine but didn't officially start building motorcycles until a decade later when it took over the Meguro Manufacturing Company. Kawasaki debuted its first motorcycle, the 125cc two-stroke B8, in 1961. This bike was followed by a series of two-stroke models that garnered the company some much-needed attention in America. In 1969, Kawasaki established itself as a key player in the industry with the H1 motorcycle. The two-stroke, three-cylinder bike proved that European manufacturers no longer had the market cornered on big motorcycles. The H1 put Kawasaki on the map in America and prompted other renowned models like the Z1, aptly named the "New York Steak" because it was designed to appeal to American riders.

Over the years, Kawasaki has continuously surprised the industry. Its next step after the Z1 was unveiling the GPZ900 Ninja in 1983, which left everyone stunned by the liquid-cooled powerhouse. Today, the Ninja lineup continues to impress and shares the spotlight with models like the Concours, KLR, and Vulcan. These bikes showcase Kawasaki's commitment to exceeding our expectations as riders by providing an engaging and dynamic experience in the saddle without compromising affordability or the pure thrill of the ride.

Why Shop With SF Moto for Your Used Kawasaki?

How many miles have you logged in the saddle? Whether you're a new or experienced rider, SF Moto promises the same exceptional experience to everyone. We've been helping riders since the 1990s and have learned many lessons about our role in your riding experience. We're the people you turn to when it's time to find the perfect bike, so it's critical we take that responsibility seriously.

If you're a new rider, buying your first bike can be intimidating because you don't have the experience or background to know what you're looking for or what will suit your needs. As a result, you're putting a lot of trust in our sales team to guide you in the right direction. While many dealerships view this as an opportunity to upsell you a new model, our experience as riders and our commitment to integrity lead us to take a different approach.

We know the value of a used Kawasaki motorcycle. As a new rider, you will likely drop your bike as you hone your skills. Dropping a new bike is excruciating, and while dropping a used motorcycle isn't exactly thrilling, it's not as painful. Moreover, a used bike is a wise investment because motorcycles don't lose value like cars, trucks, or SUVs. Motorcycles are designed to withstand the elements and run thousands of miles without compromise, meaning a used bike has character and plenty of capability to offer.

But what about experienced riders and the appeal of used Kawasaki motorcycles? As riders, we know the charm of a new motorcycle, but we also see the value of investing in a used bike. For example, perhaps you've been commuting around San Francisco and now want to try riding long distances on a Vulcan. Or maybe you're ready to venture beyond the pavement with the Versys. By shopping for a used model, you can affordably build a bike collection that meets all your riding needs.
