Time spent in the saddle is never wasted, but it’s often too short as there’s always more to see and more roads to explore. Enjoying more time like this is at the heart of your search for a Honda motorcycle dealer near me, which brought you to a dealership that genuinely has the same feeling. At SF Moto, little compares to time in the saddle, which makes our job incredibly rewarding.

SF Moto is the only Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki, and Zero electric motorcycle dealer in San Francisco, but that isn’t the only thing that distinguishes us from other dealers. Locally owned and in business since 1995, SF Moto is run by a team of riders who know firsthand the joy of riding and the responsibilities that come with it. This experience gives us a unique advantage and allows us to help customers like you find the perfect Honda for your riding needs.

Perhaps just as important as our experience is our approach. Shopping for a motorcycle can be intimidating, especially to new or inexperienced riders. At SF Moto, we take pride in doing things differently by creating a laid-back environment where riders of all skill levels feel at ease. We’re just as excited to welcome new riders into the community as we hear countless tales of adventure from veterans in the saddle.

If this experience is what you’re looking for, then you’re in the right place. You can get on a Honda motorcycle today at SF Moto, but you’ll also find something else–a new community of riders who share your excitement and passion for riding. Fortunately, that excitement starts now as we show you everything Honda stands for as a pioneer in the industry and how SF Moto can help bring your Honda motorcycle dreams to life.

A Look at Honda’s Motorcycle History

Soichiro Honda showed an early interest in automobiles, initially working on cars as an apprentice in an automotive garage in Tokyo in the early 1900s. This passion inspired Soichiro to open an automotive repair shop in his native Hamamatsu in 1928, during which time he built his first race car. After a racing injury threatened his well-being, he shifted his focus to manufacturing piston rings for Toyota. With no formal training, Soichiro’s company got off to a rocky start but eventually found its footing.

By World War II, Soichiro sold the company and hoped to enter the transportation industry. Rather than pursue his passion for the automobile, he built his first motorized bicycle and officially formed Honda Motor Co. Ltd. in 1948. Within a year, Soichiro debuted his first official motorcycle—a 98cc machine dubbed the “Dream.” Honda’s motorcycle legacy was born.

The Dream, officially known as the Model D, was an instant success and led Honda to open a manufacturing facility in Tokyo in 1950. Over the next decade, Honda’s motorcycle lineup expanded to include models like the Dream E and Super Cub, followed by the CB77 and CB750 of the 1960s. The company turned heads in the early 1970s when it debuted the Gold Wing, a touring bike instantly acclaimed as the largest and best-equipped bike in the world.

From there, Honda established itself as a leader in the industry and broadened its focus to offer class-leading bikes in nearly every category. At the same time, the Honda name became synonymous with performance and quality engineering. These characteristics have defined every model in the lineup, from the bare-bones Dream D of the 1940s to the Gold Wing, CBR family, Africa Twin, and beyond.

Meet the Current Honda Lineup

The Honda lineup runs the gamut from street to off-road warriors destined to get a little mud on the tires. This diverse selection guarantees something for every rider in the Honda fleet, whether you’re looking for a luxurious touring bike or a dual sport that can handle itself on and off the pavement. Honda has it all.

Honda’s legendary Gold Wing sits at one end of the spectrum and is designed for the ultimate on-road adventure that takes you from coast to coast. The Gold Wing is renowned for offering premium luxury and comfort, whether you’re riding solo or two-up. Its cutting-edge technology and premium details ensure every ride is enjoyable, while its capable engine and sturdy frame help you maintain control at any speed.

As we see from Honda's diverse lineup of adventure bikes, adventures come in all varieties. While the Gold Wing exudes luxury, models like the Africa Twin, CB500X, and CRF bikes take a different approach. These bikes make it easy to say “yes” to everyday adventures with their lightweight design, capable powerplants, and agile handling. They can just as easily explore new roads as they can maintain highway speeds or navigate long straightaways or mountainous curves.

Honda’s cruiser lineup takes a different approach than its adventure lineup, focusing more on style and comfort. As a result, cruisers like the Shadow Phantom, Rebel 1100, and Fury offer unique aesthetics and a range of capabilities that give riders every chance to enjoy their commute or scenic rides around town. The same is true for standard models like the CB500F and the CB300R, which share the CB name but offer unique powerplants that deliver distinct experiences in the saddle.
