What do you need to know about the lineup from Zero Motorcycles? What can you expect from these all-electric powerhouses? As your Zero Motorcycles dealer, we have those answers and more.

An Industry Pioneer: The Story of Zero Motorcycles

NASA engineer Neal Saiki has never been satisfied with the status quo, letting his curiosity lead him to new ideas and satisfy his innovative spirit. While it's likely part of the unspoken job requirements for a NASA engineer, Saiki's interests are expansive and took him from space-related projects to his home garage in Scotts Valley, California, where he developed an electric motorcycle in 2006. The idea doesn't seem groundbreaking today with the burgeoning market for electric vehicles, but that wasn't the case in the early 2000s when hybrid automobiles were only beginning to scratch the surface.

Saiki's first electric motorcycle marked the launch of Electricross, a company we know today as Zero Motorcycles. He gradually and purposefully built the business and established the brand as a global leader in electric motorcycles. By 2011, he was confident in the company's stability, trajectory, and management team, leaving the helm to pursue yet another idea–engineering a human-powered flying machine.

Today, Zero Motorcycles remains the global leader in electric motorcycles, setting the benchmark of what riders can expect from these transformative, two-wheeled powerhouses. The company's purpose and mission remain the same, with an unwavering focus on quality and a lasting dedication to building motorcycles that deliver exceptional performance and engagement for riders across the globe. Our customers experience that mission firsthand from the convenience of our showroom floor.

What You Can Expect in the Saddle

Electric vehicles have been around for over a century, but only recently becoming practical and appealing to everyday drivers. Electric powertrain and battery design are more advanced and satisfy our performance needs, while manufacturers have successfully found ways to make electric vehicles more affordable and accessible to drivers. Today, we see these factors at play in the motorcycle industry, thanks to Zero Motorcycles and its incredible lineup of all-electric road warriors that are innovative, engaging, and packed with value.

#1 A Dynamic Fleet

Zero Motorcycles recognizes the need for versatile performers that meet and exceed our expectations in the saddle. The brand caters to that diversity by offering an extensive lineup of street and dual sport models that stretch from naked and adventure bikes to supermotos and sport tourers that push the boundaries of performance and design. Models like the DS, S, FXE, and FX are gateways into the fleet, with the SR and DSR offering slightly more power with their larger electric powertrains. The SR/S, SR/F, and DSR/X sit at the top of the lineup, boasting the most potent electric heartbeats with the highest outputs to deliver an exceptional and transformative experience.

#2 Variations of Electric Power

Zero Motorcycles' patented Z-Force powertrain leads the industry and makes every lightweight bike in the fleet a potent and engaging warrior. This cutting-edge setup comes in four configurations in the 2024 fleet, from the standard 7.2 kWh powertrain to the 17.3 kWh powertrain and the mid-tier 14.4 and 15.6 kWh electric heartbeats. But how does this translate to your experience in the saddle?

Dual sport bikes like the DS and FX and street bikes like the S and FXE have the standard 7.2 kWh powertrain, which you can enhance to 10.8 kWh when you add the power tank to the DS and S. The output is impressive, with the electric motor producing 46 hp and 78 lb-ft of instant torque for exceptional off-the-line acceleration. This output translates to a top speed of 85 MPH on the FXE and FX, with the DS and S leading the pack at 98 MPH.

Reaching the next level of power puts you behind the handlebars of the DSR dual sport, with its 14.4 kWh engine, or the SR street bike and its 15.6 kWh powertrain. The models satisfy two distinct needs for on and off-road performers, producing 70 to 74 hp and 116 to 122 lb-ft of instant torque. With the optional power tank, you can easily take the 14.4 kWh engine to 18.0 kWh for even more thrills as the DSR delivers a top speed of 102 MPH. The SR edges slightly ahead at 104 MPH.

Zero satiates every need for speed by outfitting its three most potent bikes with a 17.3 kWh powertrain that delivers 100 to 110 hp and 140 to 166 lb-ft of torque. As an adventure bike, the DSR/X produces the most torque for heightened performance on and off the pavement. However, that doesn't mean the street-savvy SR/S and SR/F are any less impressive, boasting top speeds between 112 and 124 MPH.

#3 Tech-Savvy Features

Zero Motorcycles is an industry pioneer renowned for equipping its bikes with cutting-edge technologies engineered to enhance and transform your experience and control in the saddle. These technologies run the entire spectrum of ride modes and stability control features to the brand's exclusive operating system. But how does this impact your ride and enhance the value of every Zero Motorcycle in the fleet?

The Cypher III+ operating system is the heart of every Zero motorcycle, as a cutting-edge system that is constantly evolving and expanding to meet rider needs. The latest version offers faster charging capabilities, navigational tools, expanded battery capacities, and a Parking Mode. Most impressive is that the technology is always active, delivering on-demand performance upgrades wherever you are.

Along with this cutting-edge system, models like the DSR/X set new benchmarks in the segment for innovative technologies like Bosch's Motorcycle Stability Control. The DSR/X is the first electric motorcycle to include the technology that lets you adapt the bike's performance to the terrain. As a result, you have more control over how the bike responds, with premium handling and responsiveness guaranteed on and off the pavement. These perks add to many others, including best-in-class brake control, drag torque control, traction control, and straight-line antilock braking.

#4 Ranges and Recharging That Encourage Adventure

The constantly expanding infrastructure of public charging stations makes adopting an all-electric lifestyle more accessible and appealing, especially to riders. Zero Motorcycles adds to that appeal by designing its entire lineup of street and dual sport bikes to go the distance and minimize any downtime. After all, the whole purpose of riding is to spend more time in the saddle, and with a Zero Motorcycle, that's guaranteed.

The DS, S, and FX sit at the low end of the range spectrum, but they're still impressive, with the bikes offering an 82-mile, 89-mile, and 91-mile range, respectively. The FXE ventures even further because of its 100-mile range, but the DSR and SR claim the top spots with ranges of 163 and 169 miles. Even more impressive is that Zero Motorcycles acknowledges the purpose of its dual sport lineup, partnering with Backcountry Discovery to make recharging accessible on some of the most iconic and remote routes in the country. With this network constantly expanding, you can confidently explore the unknown with your all-electric powerhouse.

An Investment in Your Future

Have you heard the news? The future is electric, and it's apparent everywhere you look. Zero Motorcycles seemingly predicted this future in the early 2000s, positioning itself as a pioneer by introducing the world to its electric motorcycles. Today, that all-electric lineup continues to evolve, setting new standards of performance, capability, and versatility to deliver an extraordinary experience to every rider around the globe. It's an exciting time to ride, especially when you climb in the saddle of an electric motorcycle with the heart of a warrior.
